1-405 Mrs. Simone:

Hello, my name is Katharine Simone.  I am the general education teacher in class 1-405.  This is my fourth year teaching at P.S. 51 and I am excited to be working with my co-teacher Ms. Moas!  I received my undergraduate degree in Political Science from Franklin and Marshall College and I received my masters at NYU with a degree in General and Special Education.  I am looking forward to a great year filled with lots of learning and growing as readers, writers, and mathematicians!

Hello! My name is Ayellet Moas. I am the Special Education Teacher in class 1-405 with my partner Mrs. Simone. I am excited to be back at P.S. 51 this year. My prior years of teaching have included six years of teaching in a community school as a special educator and also a year as a unit coordinator in D75 school. I have graduated with my undergraduate degree at Hunter College where I studied Sociology and Psychology. I completed my masters at LIU with a degree in General and Special Urban Education. I am looking forward to a wonderful year where students develop a love for learning and progress socially and emotionally as well as grow academically.


1-408 Mrs. Maurer

Hello and welcome to class 1-408! My name is Lauren Maurer and I am the teacher in first grade class 1-408. While this is my first year at P.S 51, I have five years experience teaching on the Lower East Side. I received my undergraduate degree in English at the University of Rhode Island, and my masters degree in Special and General Childhood Education. I am excited to get to know the students and families within the P.S. 51 community. I look forward to a wonderful school year ahead and hope to foster a love of learning, positive friendships, and lots of exciting adventures.
